Today we had our palm trees removed. Some people would think we were crazy to do that because palms are expensive, but if you live in FL you would understand that having two 40-50 ft palms less than 6 ft away from your home is like putting a big lightning rod on your roof. They were already struck once, and that was enough for me! So...the guys came, they heaved and hoed, cut and sawed...and BOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!! The trees came down.

When this tree fell, a swarm of bees started to go crazy all over these poor guys. I've never seen men run so fast in all my life! Poor guys ::chuckle:: |

When the second tree fell, and the guys began to chop it up they found a squirrel nest with three teeny tiny babies. So we had to bring them into the screened porch until everything quieted down. |

Once all the guys left, we put the nest in a tree nearby and mommy came an hour later and got them. It was quite an eventful day and now that the trees are gone...I can start really sketching the landscaping we will be doing in the fall :)
Oh no! Poor little babies! I'm glad mamma squirrel came to get them!
ReplyDeleteOh me too!!! It was very sweet watching her gather her babies, by the time I got my camera she and all three were gone :( But, it was a very happy reunion...The babies were squealing when she found them.
ReplyDeletePoor baby squirrels! I like the yard without the Palm trees and how fun to now start on the landscaping. Can't wait to see what you do next :)
ReplyDeleteI definitely think we need a new tree in place of the palms, but not as close to the house, I'm thinking something ornamental like a cherry or wisteria would be beautiful. I'm so excited to start getting my hands dirty :) I usually to a sketch first, and then start planting. So once I'm done with the sketching I'll post it, for opinions ;) Thanks for the comments girls. TAKE CARE :)
