The Tacky Desk

Today is day 2 of the 21 days of organizing challenge over at A Bowl Full of Lemons, and I am feeling motivated!!!

Until I walked in to the office.

Oh Em Gee....

Let me first put this disclaimer out there...We moved to this house in June, and I haven't really started using this room until recently because our lap top is still down :-/

My 4 year old daughter and her wonderful imagination have been using this room to play "secretary"- hence the graffiti ALL over the desk...

So we begin...

I brought in a trash can and just threw away all the papers that she drew on  everything.

I went to Walmart to buy some plastic bins, and this stuff. It works pretty good on floors and walls...

furniture...ehhh...not so much. It just faded the permanent marker even though I scrubbed like a mad man for 15 minutes.

Here's the desk after I cleaned it.

ehhh...kinda blah..not feeling as impressed with myself as yesterday, a light bulb went off in my head.

Do I dare use that tack paper again?

Why not? I love the pattern, and it will camouflage the scribbles.

So I did...

Once the paper was smoothed out, and everything was dry from it's scrub down.

I put the storage containers on the desk and organized my papers, bills, documents etc...

But you could see everything..and again...ehh...it didn't look "pretty."

Well it's a GOOD thing I bought that label maker at Walmart! Am I right???

Hey, my husband reads this blog, be a little more convincing ;)

I had some green paper bags left over from a party, and just cut them to make inserts for the drawers.

Voila!

Now everything is nice and neat, hidden, but still able to find easily because of my nifty new label maker. ;)

Can't wait for tomorrow! I'm on a roll!
