Today we went to our local home improvement store to go pick out a real Christmas tree. I haven't had a real tree in over 3 years and was looking forward to it! My husband however, not so much. In years past when he would come with me to pick out a tree he would pick up, shake down, stand up, and twirl about 50 trees before I would settle on the "perfect" one. This was the first time my daughter has ever had a real tree too, and with now 10ft ceilings in our home, I wanted a BIG "perfect" tree! So my husband grabbed his heavy duty gloves and prepared for a long day of heavy lifting.......
We got there, picked up the first 9-10ft tree we saw. Twirled it. Shook it. IT'S PERFECT! haha I couldn't tell if hubs was thrilled or slightly disappointed that his tree standing job ended so soon. ;-) So we tied that big girl to the top of our roof and drove home to put her on display.
Zoe was super excited to chip in and fill the stand with water. The tree looked great, and smelled even better! I had forgotten how wonderful it was to have a real tree.
We let it sit and drop for 8 hours, and then put the lights and ornaments on. It was a fun filled night of singing carols, dancing to music, and drinking hot cocoa. I don't think we will be purchasing another fake tree for a while.
