Hurricane Irene

For the most part of today the weather has been beautiful, lower 80s with a cool breeze. As hurricane Irene begins her travel north we are just now starting to get some outer storm bands moving through, and can tell you that SHE is a BEAST. Having lived in FL for 20 years, and going through many a hurricane myself (Andrew, Wilma, Katrina to name a few) I know just how damaging and potentially life threatening these storms can be. For my fellow bloggers, and northeastern followers....PLEASE...If you live in coastal areas, areas that are prone to flooding, or areas that have older homes (not up to code and such) PLEASE do yourself and your family a favor and head for an area that is more suitable to ride out this storm. I can tell you from experience that a Cat 3 storm is potentially catastrophic. Our weather is expected to deteriorate overnight here in central FL from the feeder bands extending out of the storm over 200 miles. The winds have increasingly picked up, and gusts have ranged between 40-55 mph with fast moving rain and severe storms potentially spawning funnels. So again, PLEASE if you are in Irenes path, take the warnings seriously. PREPARE for the worst, and PRAY for the best. God bless you all and take care of yourself and others in this time and after the storm.

Feeder bands starting to move through....

See the palm trees? Now watch what happened within a minute...

The wind picked up, and gusting hard along with fast moving heavy rainfall.

Take care!
