I Have Dirt Under My Nails!

Back in March we started the process of creating an island in our landscape. The project was supposed to only last a week or two at most, but the heat and current drought situation has made me want to do anything BUT work on our landscape.

Here is how it is looking as of today...

vs. this...

And my manicure that I got yesterday is officially ruined, but that's okay!

It's looking better...everything seems so puny in comparison to our huge yard. I always buy immature plants. They cost usually less than half the price of fully grown ones. Yes, you do have to have patience (something I lack) and wait for everything to grow, but your wallet will thank you!

This pot was a score...They currently are selling these at Home Depot for around twenty bucks, which is a deal in itself. I knew I was going to be burying half of it so I grabbed one that was broken, and asked the cashier if he could discount it.

He did, and you can't even tell it's damaged. :)

This boulder on the other hand...Although it looks small in comparison to everything...This sucker weighs about 90lbs. and it was NOT cheap. The sad thing is I still need two more for the other side and they need to be even bigger which means even MORE money. {insert pouting face here}

 It's coming together. I am just taking my time, because only God knows when we will get some rain, and every couple of days I find myself resuscitating our new grass when it gets too crispy. {insert another pouting face}

I can only hope 'rainy' season comes soon and brings a daily monsoon with it.

Oh, and I almost forgot... I've been working on the cleaning schedule for the "Fire the May'd Challenge"

You are going to love it! It is a super easy daily routine to help MAINTAIN your home. So, yes, your house needs to be somewhat clean for this schedule to work. I'm loving it, and it has been keeping me focused on everyday chores. I hope you will come back to check it out and join along!

Don't forget...if you do it along with me every day and post about it... One lucky person will win a gift basket filled with $50 worth of cleaning products!

How's that for keeping you motivated?!

Talk to you soon...

  1. This is looking great!! We have a large flower bed surrounding a huge Oak Tree in our front yard and it's SO intimidating. We've been wanting to tackle it for a few months but the cost is scary, so I feel ya!!
