Garden Island Design

I have been sick with a nasty stomach virus the past couple of days, so unfortunately our Easter brunch was cancelled because the last thing I wanted was for all my daughters play group friends to get what I had. So I will be hosting a Spring brunch someday soon when I start to get back into the swing of things.

While I was sick I had a lot of time to lay in bed and play around with this garden design program from Garden Puzzle. It's a really great way to plan your garden space before you go out and start spending money. Usually I will print out my picture from the computer and free hand something with colored pencils, but this program can really help you visualize your space much better.

This is what I'm thinking I would like the island to look like....

What do you think?

I'm probably going to play around with it a little bit more, but this is what has somewhat been in my head the past couple of weeks.

Our yard faces West in zone 9b, so with very little shade for the plants to rest I need to make sure that whatever I plant there can tolerate the direct sunlight and ridiculous summer heat. All opinions are welcome!

Talk to you soon

  4. Agapanthas, false heather, Coreopsis (yellow), geraniums and lavender all love tons of sun. Warning some of these grow like a weeds but can be split and replanted else where. We live where it sometimes get super cold (well for Southern California). 28-40 and way over 100 in the Summer. I have several of these plants in my front yard and they have lasted 5+ years with little or no maintenance. I'll have to check out that program cause I'm still working on my backyard (even after 15years!!!)
