This Ain't No Land Of The Leprechauns!

I think the blogs are hot right now with people scrambling for St. Patrick's Day decor ideas. So I thought it was time to show you how I subtly throw pops of green around the house this time of year.

I think the key to decorating for the "smaller" holidays is to not go overboard!

Three steps I follow are this...

1. Does it have a purpose?

In my guest bath, I used a green basket I found at Walmart for $5. It's purpose? To sit next to the sink with hand towels, extra bars of soap, and sponges in it, and when St.Patty's Day is over...it's a basket...it will get used! :)

2. Is it useful?

In the kitchen I love to decorate with fruit, but only if it's monochromatic. Fruit is useful...you will eventually eat it, right? St.Patrick's Day is undeniably the greenest holiday, so without being too predictable (like using cabbage) I chose green apples.

Oh, and those straws...

Those adorable paper straws are of course useful, and from Etsy.

Finally...

3. Keep it classy!

Instead of running out to the stores to buy the "This Years Decoration." Try collecting things over the years and keep them, for a while! When you go to the store and grab "what's new" it usually will be WAY old and tacky by next year. Instead try collecting little things over the years. That way you wont break the bank, and you won't be redoing your decorations every year.

See you next time!
